Dr. Alpha Diallo is a highly accomplished Data Science and Life Sciences Solutions Leader with over 20+ years of experience driving innovation at the intersection of AI, genomics, and computational biology.
Alpha holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Université du Québec à Montréal, where his doctoral research focused on developing and optimizing algorithms for horizontal gene transfer detection and large-scale phylogenetic reconstruction. He co-authored multiple peer-reviewed papers in genomics, neuroscience, and computational biology, including works published in Acta Neuropathologica, BMC Genomics, and The American Journal of Human Genetics. His recent contributions include co-authoring “Standardized Nomenclature and Reporting for PacBio HiFi Sequencing and Analysis of rAAV Gene Therapy Vectors” (bioRxiv, 2024).
Alpha has built a distinguished career leading bioinformatics, AI, and R&D teams across industry and research institutions that have collectively secured over $100 million in enterprise partnerships and contributed to significant advancements in gene therapy, long-read sequencing, and multi-omics integration. His work spans from building genomic pipelines and AI frameworks to architecting large-scale cloud infrastructures that accelerate discovery and improve data-driven decision-making in the life sciences.
Through Lumina Global Consulting, Alpha wants to helps clients accelerate scientific discovery and innovation by integrating AI, data science, and cloud technology into life sciences research. His mission is to empower organizations to transform data into discovery and build the foundations for the next generation of genomic and biomedical breakthroughs.
Before founding Lumina Global Consulting, Alpha led global bioinformatics and data science teams at leading companies including DNAnexus, PacBio, Form Bio, and Colossal Biosciences. He directed the development of data transfer frameworks and compliance-oriented bioinformatics pipelines supporting large-scale genomic infrastructures, including the UK Biobank, built solutions for AAV gene therapy, and partnered with industry leaders like Google, NVIDIA and PacBio to advance genomic analysis tools.
